Origins 2009 8 Months, 2 Weeks ago
Now that Origins has past does anyone have any cool stories/experiences/pictures to share?

I know I got plenty of Kool Aid

Here are a few pictures from the con. I have a ton more but most aren’t very interesting.

It was awesome meeting everyone here and on other forums and putting faces to names.

No pictures.

My GMing cool story involved my inability to tell AM from PM when submitting my games and thereby ending up with a 7AM game session. So I drug my sorry posterior out of bed without waking my brother in the living room, showed up towait for people that I prayed would not show up--who is going to get up to go play Fairy Tale/Noir at 7AM after all?

Turns out a whole table of people did, some old friends and some new faces including Tim from New York who I think was the best player I ran for all week (He ran the agency's janitor, the Third Little Pig who kept having flashbacks about his brothers' really spectacular deaths--and he played those well. We had people coming in from other rooms to find out what the yellign was about.)

So, Cock Robin, private dick, was hired to find out who was stalking Papa Bear (everyone's favorite honeydaddy) and to what ends. The game itself? Well, let's just leave it with the fact that for the first time in this scenario's history, I did not end up with a murder/suicide on my hands. Almost, but almost only gets you a conspiracy rap in this burg. But the players did uncover enough scandal to float a Lifetime miniseries.

My other games were fun, too, but not quite at this level.

And I even got to play in a couple of games.

In "Gilgamesh and the Quest for Life" I ended up playing the High Priest of Shidhuri, who brewed the sacred beer and was Gilgamesh's mouthpiece. The game was a blast because Gilgamesh was a serious "Epic of Gilgamesh" fanboy. Hell, he was quoting the epic all the way through and he was serious about his herodom--and incidentally he's the reason the sun doesn't rise in the west any more like the gods made it to. The rest of the party was there to provide the human element and occasional comic relief around the Great King's quest. "Hello, is this the (checks clay tablet) Utnapishtim residence?" Adventure doesn't get any better!

Or so I thought until the next evening, when several old timers gathered to take on "Revenge of the Space Gods." The poor GM had no clue as to why letting my brother and me take the science and engineering positions on the starship was a bad idea (in cheap German accents even,) but we showed him, spouting Startrekkie technobabble and coming up with all sorts of ludicrous tools for the bridge crew to use agains the deity-menaces. And the bridge crew had jsut the right amount of irreverence to make the whole game a blast. "Weapons! Activate the Blowfish Protocol on the shields and set the guns to nucelar annihilation!" Yes, we stopped the Space Gods, but, no, we, didn't actually fight any of them. Instead we rules lawyered around the "and they shall appear when the stars are properly aligned" clause in the whole apocalypse contract. Screw with the stars, screw with the gods. Take that, Dumb Old Space Gods! Fthagn yourselves! (Insert pathetic human victory dance here.)

I love it when a con gives me things like this!

I promised these guys I would run a game of Vox for them, and then I got sick and passed out for most of the night while people took photos of me sleeping, and then I overslept and finally got to the con after noon with a horrible sore throat and a headache, and then I canceled the game because I felt horrible.

So that's my GM story.

Man and our con experience would have been perfect but.....

Its cool, we will just have to get our Vox on over Skype.

The Con was a blast, as always. Got to do some real RPing in this time around. Playtested new stuff for Hollow Earth Expedition. It rocked, especially with a new game mechanic that is going to be lots of fun for GM's & players too. Got to play-test Tenra Bansho Zero; a Japanese RPG that is soon to be out new translated into English. This game rocks and the session we had was way awesome. It made me angry that I couldn't buy it yet. Speaking of hey, Andy is it done yet? Got to play a new release at Origins, Shard RPG. Way too much going on with this one for one post. Check it here: www.shardrpg.com
Download the Welcome Booklet, lets you try out the rules and give you a taste of the game and setting. Let me put it this way after playing it Dan, Luke and myself each got copies.

Much more happen, but we talk about it on our next episode where we recap the TGMS crew's Origins.

Note to self: Must return to GenCon or go to Origins to play in a game run by Jerry.

I met Jerry at GenCon07 when I helped man the WEG booth.

The costume is fantastic Jerry BTW.
