The Game Master Show Ep 59 (review) Ninja Burger review 1 Year, 3 Months ago
This thread discusses the Content article: The Game Master Show Ep 59 (review) Ninja Burger review

Thanks again for playing my game!

One quick note: why would a cook go on a mission? Because he's a ninja and he wants to! Also, time! The RPG equipment list includes portable cooking equipment so he can cook on the run. Running short on time? Cook on the go! Did the order get eaten by guard dogs? Make it again!

Exclamation point!

Another quick note: honor points. As we discussed when we chatted, your house rule to give 5 honor between sessions is the way to go. If I ever do a 2.5 edition, that'll be in there.

Ninja Burger?

When did this game come out? Is it one of those new fangled “story games” I hear so much about?

Hey, you two play nice or...or...or I'll have to get someone in here who actually has authority to do something.

All in All I LOVED this game. I really think it was what teh show needed at the moment. A real break from the norm.

I like how Luke ran the game. Only thing I had, as I stated in teh first thread, was that I had no clue about the elements besides Fire. Not a big deal as I got the idea of what they are used for.

Second game ran a little sluggish to me. It seemed like the first session was full throttle and balls to the wall. The second game was slightly slower. Still great. Just the first session was so fast passed that a 'normal' game seemed slower.

I like Luke's 'I make my own rules' style. The podcast is not "How to demo new games", but "How to be a better GM". In using house rules and changing things around it showed how a 'real' game runs. By the book is nice, but rarely happens. Often you tweek things to make it soother.

I feel that is changing rules he may be able to help others understand that FUBARing rules is ok in order to have fun. Also gave an example of how it can be done.

Final Score

Game- A+. I plan to but this tommorrow
Luke's GMing- A+ Good job pimp.

A pimp huh? About damn time someone admitted to my great gaming prowess

In all seriousness I'm glad to hear that someone enjoyed it as much as I did. And you are right, the second night was a little bit sluggish. I just wasn't feeling "in the zone" as it were. But I think all and all it finally fell into place with help from the players, or at least the impression I get from the you enthusiastic response.

I'm also quite happy to see an actual listener who supports the idea of house rules. Don't get me wrong, I appreciate all the work that people put into their RPs they put out....I'm looking at you Jerry and Mike....but I really like for spicing things up, and sometimes cutting the fat rules wise...though honestly Ninja Burger didn't need the latter.

And as I final note to you VerseDawn, I'm very VERY happy to hear that you are going out and buying this book. As you may have heard back when we ran Dread, when I fall in love with a game as much as I did Ninja Burger I want to see it succeed, so the more who buy the better.
