The Game Master Show Ep 93 (General) RPG Video Games
I love RPG video games. Now, I know the big discussion is if it is "role-playing". No, I am not playing these things in the terms of WWMCD (what would my character do); however, I think they are all role-playing games in the sense of what the first RPGs were meant as--kill the monster, get the loot, kill the bigger monster.
But anyway, I love them. I was not able to play D&D growing up. Therefore, I took what I was able to. Bard's Tale and the many more games that came after it. Some of the notables: Ultima, Might and Magic, Gold Box(es), Beholder series, Dark Ages (made my get a x386 processor). The list could go on.
One thing that I have been by video games is inspired to bring them to pen and paper. For example, who while playing Fall Out 3 did not want to play some Post Apoc game? I know I did. I wanted to run a super heroes game while playing City of Heroes and Freedom Force.
How could you not watch the trailer for Red Dead Redemption and not want to play a western?

Anyway, I find hours (months) of entertainment in video games that mostly inspire me to play real pen and paper games. Without such games, I wonder how many of us would actually play traditional rpgs?
